The Spaces

The Chapel

The Chapel is the primary engine of the venue, often transitioning from a ceremony site to a reception hall. The all-white interior and high ceilings create an airy, ethereal feel, but the lack of obvious rigging points means that “hanging” installs are generally off-the-table unless you utilize the existing chandeliers. The focal point is the raised stage, which acts as a literal pedestal for your design.

• What works: Ground-level “growing” installations that crawl up the decorative screen panels on the stage. These provide the height needed to compete with the vaulted ceilings without requiring a ladder or complex mechanics.
• Skip: Tall, spindly stands for centerpieces. Against the white walls, thin metal stands can look cluttered and distracting.
• Watch out: The transition from ceremony to reception. If you are using the stage for the ceremony, ensure your floral pieces are designed to be moved or integrated into the sweetheart table setup afterward.
• Budget hero move: A lush, asymmetrical floor installation at the base of the stage. It creates a massive impact for the ceremony and serves as a photo backdrop for the entire reception.

The Foyer & Grand Staircase

This is often the first thing guests see, and it is almost certainly where the most important portraits will be taken. The staircase is classic and clean, providing a perfect armature for greenery.

• What works: Smilax or Italian Ruscus vines woven through the balusters, punctuated by clusters of focal flowers at the newel post (the bottom of the rail).
• Skip: Heavy, water-logged foam cages attached to the railing. They are difficult to hide and pose a drip risk to the wood.
• Watch out: The foyer can get crowded during guest arrival. Keep floor arrangements tucked into the “crook” of the stairs to prevent them from being stepped on.

The Bridal Suite

This suite is more stylistically “busy” than the rest of the venue, featuring floral wallpaper and a decorative fireplace. It is a beautiful space for “getting ready” photos, but the flowers need to be intentional so they don’t get lost in the wallpaper pattern.

• What works: Large, stone-look urns flanking the entrance. They bridge the gap between the historic exterior and the refined interior.
• Skip: Delicate, airy “meadow” styles that might look insignificant against the scale of the brick building. Go for mass and volume here.

What Works at Heritage Hill Events

• Monochromatic Palettes: In an all-white space, an all-white floral palette looks incredibly high-end and intentional. Alternatively, a single bold color (like deep burgundy or vibrant ochre) creates a striking, modern contrast.
• Narrow Centerpieces: The venue utilizes farm tables, which are notoriously narrow. Standard round centerpieces will leave no room for water carafes or bread baskets. We recommend “pave” style troughs or clusters of bud vases.
• Floor-to-Ceiling Logic: Since you can’t easily hang things from the ceiling, use the floor. Large-scale floor arrangements at the base of the stage or flanking the arched windows draw the eye upward and fill the vertical volume of the room.

• Repurposed Aisle Markers: The aisle is wide enough to accommodate floor nests. These can easily be moved to the front of the stage or the base of the staircase after the ceremony, doubling your ROI.
